Chelsea player ratings vs Sheffield United: Kovacic and Christensen impress, Werner good

Edouard Mendy

Some of his passing was a bit iffy as the Blues tried to play out from the back. Hapless communication with Rudiger for the own goal. He doesn’t have many shots to face with a back five in front of him but there is something that isn’t quite convincing about the stopper. 6

Reece James

Barely had to do any defending and was given plenty of space on the right though he initially seemed reluctant to venture too far forward. Did it more as the second half progressed. 6

Cesar Azpilicueta

Mateo Kovacic

Wonderful pass set Werner clear early on and was the visitors’ best player in the opening 45 as he dictated proceedings. Industrious throughout and one of Chelsea’s better players. 7

Mason Mount

A bundle of energy as he chased down plenty of lost causes from…
