Chelsea’s team for the game against Sheffield United is out, and one of the notable changes is up front, where Olivier Giroud gets a start.
That means Timo Werner is shifted to the left, with Callum Hudson-Odoi rested. Giroud started Thomas Tuchel’s first game, against Wolves, and didn’t do well. This is a big chance for him to show the new manager what he can do.
The reaction on social media to the selection reflected that, by and large.
“Turn up today” one begged, and we sure would love to see OG back to his best. We all know what he can do, and he’ll have his work cut out against 3 Sheffield United central defenders.
Werner is also probably given a reprieve by CHO’s absence, and his link up with Giroud will be vital if we want 3 points today.
You can see a selection of the reaction to the news in the Tweets embedded here:
Giroud makes sense against Sheff Utd, like that. Werner can play off him. Gets good service from Reece and Chilly.
