Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea have all been linked with a move for RB Leipzig defender Ibrahima Konate this summer but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have reportedly made the 21-year-old their top target.
According to a report from the Independent, Solskjaer believes strengthening United’s defence is a priority and Konate is said to be their main option.
Konate’s regular defensive partner at Leipzig Dayot Upamecano has previously been a target for United but the report notes that Bayern Munich are now the favourites to sign him.
Liverpool and Chelsea are named as being among the other clubs interested in Konate but United’s need to sign a centre-back is more pressing.

Liverpool brought in Ben Davies and Ozan Kabak in January and could make Kabak’s loan move permanent if he impresses.
Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip are all expected to miss the remainder of the current campaign through injury but they should all be back next season, meaning Jurgen Klopp will have a number of defensive options at his disposal.
Chelsea also have Antonio Rudiger, Andreas Christensen, Thiago Silva, Kurt Zouma and Cesar Azpilicueta as centre-back options, with Silva expected to extend his contract with the Blues at the end of the campaign.

United, meanwhile, rely heavily on club captain Harry Maguire, with the 27-year-old playing every minute of their Premier League season so far.
Victor Lindelof and Eric Bailly have both missed games as a result of recurring injuries, while academy graduate Axel Tuanzebe has been limited to just 130 minutes of game time in the league.
