Tuchel explains Pulisic absence

Chelsea extended their winning streak to three consecutive matches following a 2-1 triumph against Sheffield United on Sunday evening.

Jorginho’s second-half penalty secured all three points for the Blues, with Antonio Rudiger’s earlier own goal cancelling out Mason Mount’s opener.

Ahead of the game, Tuchel’s selection for the match earned attention from fans with Christian Pulisic absent and the manager has now given his reasons.

“He has some family issues to solve. Family is always first,” he explained after the match.

Chelsea player ratings

Chelsea have turned a corner since the appointment of Thomas Tuchel, with four games undefeated under the new boss and three wins in a row.

Mason Mount, Jorginho and Antonio Rudiger were on the scoresheet for the Blues against Sheffield United, although the latter found the net at the wrong end.

It’s presented a solid platform to build upon and has seen the emergence of some important figures, who are perhaps not who the fans expected to shine.

Against the Blades, Andreas Christiansen, Mateo Kovacic and Jorginho were among the highest-rated Chelsea players.
