Thomas Tuchel is about to manage his first game in the FA Cup, a competition that he holds dear memories of as a kid in Germany.

His side face Barnsley in the 5th round of the competition tonight and have a real chance to progress and put in a good challenge to win it.

It’s his best shot at getting some silverware in his first season in English football, and he knows the importance, the magic, and the tensions that challenging for this ‘pretty cup’, as he refers to it as, brings.

The Blues head coach reflects of being a kid in the garden seeing pictures of Wembley Stadium following along to the events that unfolded in the competition, one that is well known across the globe.

Tuchel has been talking about the love of this cup and how all players and managers want to win it, as reported on the Chelsea website.

He said:

“I remember there was this huge stadium at Wembley, this famous name and this pretty cup.

“Maybe we played out in the garden when we saw the pictures from these finals.

“To win cups and to play in cup competitions is something all supporters love and all players love because everything is possible in the 90 minutes of football.

“It has its surprises and you feel this tension in knockout games. This is the tension that you can only feel in cup games and the closer you come, the more it grows.”
