Liverpool handed Mason Mount warning ahead of Chelsea clash

Chelsea are back in Premier League action this evening when they take on Liverpool at Anfield.

The Blues are unbeaten since Thomas Tuchel’s arrival in late January, a run spanning across 10 games in all competitions, but after drawing with Manchester United last time out, their unbeaten run will face another stern test this evening.

Last season’s champions Liverpool have struggled to reach the levels of last term so far during this campaign, but they bounced back from four straight defeats with a win last time out, and they will be hungry to continue that improvement.

The Reds and Chelsea are separated by one place and one point as things stand, making this a potentially pivotal game in the race for the top four.

Both sides will be desperate to take three points in a potential six-pointer, but if Liverpool want to get one over on Chelsea, they will have to keep one particular player quiet, according to former Reds striker Emile Heskey.

“Mason Mount played last time and Mount, I don’t think gets the credit he deserves,” Heskey told Rousing the Kop.

“For a young lad what he does…again he’s in the same ilk as Curtis Jones, getting into those positions that hurt players and hurts teams, he demands the ball and drives with it. He can be a thorn in your side to be honest.”

Mount has been excellent this season, standing out, despite the more than £200million spent by Chelsea during the summer, and proving to be a regular both under Frank Lampard and Tuchel.
