Arsenal and Chelsea’s aspirations of signing Inter Milan right-back Achraf Hakimi this summer appear to have been handed a major blow.
The right-back, who spent the last two seasons on loan at Borussia Dortmund, joined Inter last summer on a permanent basis from Spanish heavyweights Real Madrid.
Although Hakimi has not yet completed his first season in Italy, the Morocco international has been going from strength to strength and has been attracting interest from no shortage of clubs ahead of the summer transfer window opening in a few months time.
Amongst those to have expressed an interest in the attack-minded full-back are both Arsenal and Chelsea. The Gunners will be desperate to bolster the right-back berth this summer if Hector Bellerin leaves the club.
The Spaniard, who was heavily linked with an exit from the Emirates Stadium last summer, is once again mulling over his future, with Paris Saint-Germain believed to be keen on luring him to the French capital.

Chelsea, on the other hand, have also been credited with interest in the former Dortmund loanee and he appears to be a tailor-made fit for Thomas Tuchel’s 3-4-2-1 formation at Stamford Bridge. Tuchel likes his wing-backs to get high up the pitch and support the attackers, meaning the role would be perfect for someone of Hakimi’s credentials.
However, despite reports claiming that Inter will have to cut their cloth this summer and raise funds, a number of big-name stars could need to be moved on, such as former Tottenham Hotspur ace Christian Eriksen.
Unfortunately for Arsenal and Chelsea, though, Hakimi may not be one of them. According to his agent – Alejandro Camano – Hakimi is happy at the San Siro and enjoying life under former Chelsea boss Antonio Conte.
“Hakimi is happy at Inter with Conte, who is an excellent coach,” Camano said, as quoted by TEAMtalk.
