Zinedine Zidane outlines why Real Madrid “need” Eden Hazard on his return to Chelsea

Zinedine Zidane has admitted Real Madrid will “need” Eden Hazard tomorrow as they attempt to dump Chelsea out of the Champions League at the semi final stage.

The last four tie is very much in the balance at 1-1 after the first leg in the Spanish capital a week ago but Chelsea did net a crucial away goal through Christian Pulisic.

Karim Benzema equalised on a rain-lashed evening in Valdebebas to leave the tie all square after 90 minutes but Chelsea with the slight advantage thanks to the away goal.

Madrid have been boosted by the return of Ferland Mendy, Sergio Ramos and Federico Valverde to their travelling part for the game. All three didn’t feature against the Blues in the first leg but are in London with the squad for Wednesday’s game.

Hazard has struggled badly with injuries in his near two seasons with the club but according to head coach Zidane, the 30-year-old is fit and pushing for a start against his former employers on Wednesday.

Zidane was asked at his pre-match press conference ahead of the game if it was time for Hazard to “flick the switch” as he returns to his former stomping ground.

“It is a great time for it, a great time for him and I think he is prepared,” Zidane said.
