Shearer hails James’ showing vs Man City
Former England striker Alan Shearer described Chelsea right-back Reece James’ second half performance against Manchester City on Saturday evening as “magnificent.”
After falling behind to Raheem Sterling’s opener shortly before half time, the Blues produced an outstanding second half performance at the home of the Premier League champions-elect to score twice and turn the game on its head, sealing a 2-1 triumph.
Goals from Hakim Ziyech and Marcos Alonso sealed the victory for Thomas Tuchel’s charges, but it was right wing-back James, according to Shearer, that had a major impact on swinging the game in the Blues’ favour.

“Reece James, who I thought, particularly in the second half, was magnificent, gave [Benjamin] Mendy a torrid time,” Shearer told BBC Sport’s Match of the Day.
“His pace, his drive and his quality to get up there… they couldn’t handle him. There were at least three or four occasions when he was able to do that.
“But when he is doing that he is pulling everyone else up there with him. It was great skill to get into that position and there is his teammate on the other side – Alonso.”

Sancho addresses his future
Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho has admitted that “doesn’t know” what the future holds for him as he continues to be linked with an exit from the German giants.
The England international, who will be hoping to light up this summer’s European Championships, has been heavily linked with a return to England in the past year or so, with both Chelsea and Manchester United amongst his suitors.
