A recent report stemming from Brazil has named Arsenal as one of the sides showing an interest in Yuri Alberto.
Who is Yuri Alberto?
After spending several years on the books of Santos, Yuri Alberto joined fellow Brazilian outfit Sport Club Internacional of a free transfer last August.
The 20-year-old has since featured 49 times across all competitions for Sport Club Internacional.
In said ties he has managed to scored 17 and provided two assists. Alberto is a centre-forward by trade but he can also be used as a left-winger, a position he has played several times this season.
Alberto has also earned himself two caps for Brazil’s under-23 side after making his debut back in January of 2020.
Arsenal linked with Yuri Alberto
Now, as mentioned above, Alberto is being linked with a couple of top sides.
The forward’s current contract with Sport Club Internacional runs until 2025.
Despite this, Globo Esporte are claiming that both FC Barcelona and Premier League outfit Arsenal are interested in Alberto.
It is claimed that Arsenal have been monitoring the youngster since 2017, and made contact before he joined Internacional but negotiations did not advance.
In terms of a potential fee for Alberto, Globo Esporte report that Internacional estimate they could get around €15m for the forward.
Do Arsenal need to sign Alberto?
Regardless of the fee though, do Arsenal actually need to sign Alberto?
The Gunners already have a plethora of striking options at their disposal and even if Alexandre Lacazette – who will have just one year left on his contract this summer – leaves, then the Gunners can still call upon all of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Gabriel Martinelli, Eddie Nketiah and Folarin Balogun to play up top – the latter of which recently signed a new contract till 2025.
