Chelsea’s 20-year-old winger Callum Hudson-Odoi could have his future decided should the Blues complete the transfer of Inter’s Achraf Hakimi this summer.
It has been reported that the Stamford Bridge club match Paris Saint-Germain’s offer of around £51.8m to sign the Moroccan full-back as the Blues hope to bolster their ranks having won the Champions League at the end of May.
The club already have enough depth in the form of Reece James and Cezar Azpilicueta, but due to the latter’s move to a more central role in defence, Chelsea feel the need to add another play in the wing-back position.
They could, however, already have a solution amongst their squad.
Academy graduate Hudson-Odoi played in that position in Thomas Tuchel’s early weeks at the club and could save them over £52m this summer if the German manager works with him in that role.
Tuchel was impressed with how Hudson-Odoi performed as a wing-back, despite never having played the role previously in his career.

“I didn’t know he hadn’t played wing-back before,” Tuchel said in January, after his first game against Wolves, which came just a day after he officially signed for Chelsea.
“Maybe it was a good thing I didn’t ask because maybe I would have doubted my decision!
“We just had one training session before the Wolves game.
“We were flying in on the same day and wondering what structure to implement to give the team a good feeling, and to have a solid block defensively but also to attack freely.
