Callum Hudson-Odoi’s Chelsea future could be determined if Achraf Hakimi seals transfer

Chelsea’s 20-year-old winger Callum Hudson-Odoi could have his future decided should the Blues complete the transfer of Inter’s Achraf Hakimi this summer.

It has been reported that the Stamford Bridge club match Paris Saint-Germain’s offer of around £51.8m to sign the Moroccan full-back as the Blues hope to bolster their ranks having won the Champions League at the end of May.

The club already have enough depth in the form of Reece James and Cezar Azpilicueta, but due to the latter’s move to a more central role in defence, Chelsea feel the need to add another play in the wing-back position.

They could, however, already have a solution amongst their squad.

Academy graduate Hudson-Odoi played in that position in Thomas Tuchel’s early weeks at the club and could save them over £52m this summer if the German manager works with him in that role.

Tuchel was impressed with how Hudson-Odoi performed as a wing-back, despite never having played the role previously in his career.
