Erling Haaland, Jack Grealish and the players Chelsea could break transfer record to sign

Chelsea enjoyed a fairytale end to the season after clinching their second-ever Champions League trophy with a 1-0 win over Manchester City in Porto last month.

However, there is still significant work to be done to the squad as Thomas Tuchel bids to close the gap between the Blues and City and challenge for the Premier League title next season.

This summer transfer window will be Tuchel’s first full window after he arrived at Stamford Bridge on January 26 with just five days left of the winter window.

Chelsea have demonstrated their financial strength in recent years, splashing over £220million last summer despite the financial implications of the global pandemic.

In fact, eight of Chelsea’s top-ten most expensive players were signed in the past four years – including club-record additions Kepa Arrizabalaga and Kai Havertz, who both cost the Blues a whopping £72m to land from Athletic Bilbao and Bayer Leverkusen respectively.

So, if Chelsea were to splash the cash and make a statement of intent by exceeding their record transfer fee, who could they sign?

We’ve taken a look.

Erling Haaland

As it stands, both Olivier Giroud and Tammy Abraham are both open to moves away from Chelsea this summer given their lack of playing time since Tuchel came in as Chelsea coach.

The funds this would generate could help to go towards a mammoth move for Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland, who would likely cost upwards of £80million given his outstanding record in front of goal.

The deal could be a difficult one to pull off but if Tuchel could persuade the Norwegian to come to Stamford Bridge this summer it would be a massive coup – considering Haaland has already netted more than 130 goals at senior level despite being just 20-years-old.
