France boss Deschamps provides Ousmane Dembele injury update

France manager Didier Deschamps has, on Saturday evening, provided an update on the wellbeing of Ousmane Dembele.

Spoils shared

Les Bleus were of course back in action a short time ago.

The world champions made the trip to Budapest, for a Euro 2020 group stage meeting with Hungary.

Deschamps and co. of course got their campaign to a fine start last time out, in downing Germany by a goal to nil at the Allianz Arena.

In turn, with Hungary having shipped three goals in their own opener versus Portugal, France were widely expected to simply steamroll their underdog hosts this afternoon.

When all was said and done at the Ferenc Puskas Stadium, however, this proved far from the case.

It was in fact Hungary who opened the game’s scoring, when Attila Fiola surged beyond Benjamin Pavard, before slotting home at Hugo Lloris’ near post:

WHAT A MOMENT!

HUNGARY TAKE THE LEAD AGAINST FRANCE! 😮

France, though, inevitably hit back 25 minutes from time, when Antoine Griezmann found the net from close range, following a fine piece of play down the right on the part of Kylian Mbappe:

France are back in the game thanks to Antoine Griezmann!

This, though, proved all she wrote when it came to the scoring in Budapest, as France’s hopes of topping the ‘group of death’ were dealt a heavy blow.

‘Keep an eye on it’

The eventual result, however, proved far from the only concern for an under-performing Les Bleus on Saturday.

Late in the clash, despite having been introduced as a substitute, Ousmane Dembele was forced to limp off, with what appeared to be a knee problem.
