England vs Czech Republic
England will bring an end to their Euro 2020 group phase on Tuesday evening.
The Three Lions will play host to the Czech Republic as they look to bounce back from their disappointing 0-0 draw with Scotland last time out.
Said draw meant that England remained second in their group, and could still technically fail to finish 2nd in Group D if they were to lose to the Czech Republic and then Croatia beat Scotland.
Southgate on Sancho
So, with this game now pretty important to England, fans are no doubt keen to see Gareth Southgate make a number of changes from the side that overwhelmed vs Scotland.
The likes of Harry Kane, Raheem Sterling, Mason Mount and Reece James were not exactly at their best on Friday.
Southgate also waited until after the 60th minute to introduce Jack Grealish, despite the game seemingly set up perfectly for him to start.
Perhaps the biggest surprise from an England perspective, however, is that Jadon Sancho is yet to play a single minute at Euro 2020 so far.
The 21-year-old scored 16 and assisted 20 in 38 outings for Dortmund last term, making his continued omission even more bizarre.
Now though, when asked about Jadon Sancho ahead of facing the Czech Republic, Southgate suggested he is in the mix to be involved on Tuesday:
“We’ve got some explosive options and a lot of them are young players and experiencing a big tournament for the first time,” Southgate told reporters ahead of Tuesday’s game. “So as a coaching staff we are realistic about our expectations of them as individuals.
“Jadon is in that mix. He’s trained well the last few days and of course we have got those options and those decisions to make.”
