Alex Scott’s rise to prominence

Alex Scott MBE has risen to prominence in the last two years as a well-thought-out, articulate punditry, and has made history already this year, becoming the first female presenter of BBC programme football focus.

Scott replaced Dan Walker, who had held the role for 12 years previously. In a piece for BBC Sport, she said:

“To say I’m the Football Focus presenter feels surreal. I’ve had some amazing messages and an incredible reaction on social media – I want to thank everyone for their support.”

“I promise you I will bring the best of myself to Football Focus and I hope you enjoy the ride.”

Fifa 22 commentator confirmed

In addition to this, Alex Scott took to Twitter to share the fact that she is set to be commentating on popular video game FIFA22.

Happy to finally share the news that I joined the FIFA family and will be commentating for #FIFA22! 🙌🏾🎮

This is a big moment for FIFA, for football and women and girls across the world.
It’s also a big moment for me personally and professionally.#FIFA22

The ex-England international will replace Alan McInally as the pitch-side reporter. In doing so, Scott becomes the first-ever English speaking female commentator, although Scott claims that “I will certainly not be the last”.

Hopefully, Scott is proved right and more women find their way into the popular video game franchise.
