Premier League outfit Arsenal have, on Thursday, confirmed that midfielder Emile Smith Rowe has put pen to paper on a new contract with the club.
Youngster Smith Rowe of course enjoyed a breakout campaign in the English capital in 2020/21, after finally being handed the chance to impress on a consistent basis late last year.
The Englishman was widely tipped as the long-term answer to Arsenal’s creative woes, with Smith Rowe’s hugely impressive attitude having already seen him take on cult hero status amongst the club’s fanbase, too.
In turn, it came as something of a surprise earlier this summer when one of the Gunners’ Premier League rivals began a concerted push to lure ESR away from North London.
The side in question, Aston Villa, were even reported to have seen a Â£25 million offer knocked back by those in a position of power at the Emirates.
As outlined above, though, on Thursday, Arsenal have moved to definitively put to bed any remaining speculation surrounding the future of the club’s up and coming midfield star.
This comes in the form of a new long-term contract, reaffirming the faith of both the club and Mikel Arteta in Smith Rowe’s talents.
In a post across their social media platforms this afternoon, the Gunners confirmed that the 20-year-old has put pen to paper on fresh terms, tying him down for the foreseeable future.
